Prof. Feng Zhao served as the Track Chair for Cardiovascular Engineering, organizing 10 sessions at the 2024 Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Annual Meeting in Baltimore.

Archita Sharma presented a poster titled “Implantable 3D Engineered Tissues with Perfusable Biomimicking Capillary Networks” at the 2024 Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Annual Meeting in Baltimore.

Alvis gave an oral presentation “Fibroblast-Generated Extracellular Matrix Guides Anastomosis during Wound Healing in an Engineered Lymphatic Skin Flap” that won 2nd place!

Dr. Zhao gave an oral presentation “Tissue engineering strategies for cardiac and lymphatic tissue regeneration”.

Alvis Chiu, Archita Sharma, and Brandon Zhao presented their research at the Gulf Coast Consortia (GCC) Integrative Development, Regeneration, and Repair Conference in BioScience Research Collaborative, Rice University, Houston, TX.

Zhao lab presented at the 5th Annual Gulf Coast Vascular Research Consortium (GVRC) meeting in College Station on August 4-5, 2023. Dr. Zhao gave a talk titled “Structured cell-derived extracellular matrix for vascular bioengineering”. Alvis, Te-An, and Archita presented their doctoral research. Alvis presented a poster titled “Pharmaceutical Wnt Activation, Oscillatory Shear Stress, and Shear Stress Gradients Synergistically Activate Lymphatic Valve Genes”. Te-An presented a poster titled “Prevascularization of Tissue-Engineered Cardiac Patch using Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Derived Endothelial Cells”. Archita presented a poster titled “Evaluating Innate Immune Response and Patency of Engineered Perfusable Tissue Constructs”.

Dr. Zhao gave a talk titled “Extracellular Matrix for Cardiac and Lymphatic Tissue Engineering and Regeneration” at the 2023 Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) Michael E. DeBakey Institute Research Symposium.
